TSWELOPELE CHORUS


Tswelopele Chorus was established in July 2015 by Messrs. Siyabonga Dlamini and Sibusiso Sithole, with the primary objective (/s) of rehearsing and performing choral music, providing musical services to the community when the need arises, to provide a musical home for all interested in the greater Pretoria and Johannesburg area and to promote the standard of choral music.


Secondarily Tswelopele aims to educate its members in the singing of all types of choral music, arrange concerts for the general public to attend, perform choral works with other choirs and participate in various competitions and music festivals in the community. The choir currently consists of 42 choristers.


The choir being fairly young went to its first (TCMA) competition on October 18th 2015, winning first place in the development section. The choir has since went on to perform at Computeshare and Standard Bank respectively.
The Choir is an NPO (registration number: 168-296) registered on March 14th 2016. “Tswelopele” is a Sesotho word meaning progress, the choir is an organization which believes in hard work and a healthy environment to strive for excellence

Siyabonga Dlamini
 
Is a new and young conductor. Mr. Siyabonga Dlamini was a chairperson of the Tshwane University of technology Ga-rankuwa Chorale(TUT Ga-rankuwa Chorale) for three years (2011 - 2013). He has conducted TUT Ga-rankuwa Chorale once in the Sedibeng Competitions in 2014 and obtained position 3.
 
He then moved to the newley formed TC, and his first competitition Meloding ya Tshwane where the choir took part in the development section and obtained position 1 overall.
